Community Improvement Awards ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The Community Improvement Award Program, sponsored by the Huntingdon County Chamber of Commerce and the Huntingdon County Planning Commission, is intended to recognize excellence in development.  Award categories include New Construction, Preservation, Community Spirit and Special Merit.

Nominations were accepted between November 3, 2022 and January 6, 2023 and completed applications were received through 4PM on February 9, 2023.

The 2022 Awards were presented as part of the HCPC's March 9, 2023 Annual Dinner Meeting.  Awardees included:

  • Preservation - 400 Penn Street, Huntingdon, PA (Huntingdon Landmarks, Inc.);
  • Preservation - Bluegills Bar & Grill, Alexandria, PA;
  • New Construction - Bobcat of Huntingdon, Huntingdon, PA;
  • Community Spirit - 313 12th Street, Huntingdon, PA (Huntingdon County Arts Council); and
  • Special Merit - Mount Union Area Community Garden


Presentation of the 2021 Awards was held as part of the HCPC's Annual Dinner Meeting on March 3, 2022.  Awardees included:

  • Community Spirit - Bryan Park;
  • New Construction - Pennsylvania Avenue Linear Park Retaining Wall;
  • Preservation - Hartslog Heritage Museum Annex;
  • Preservation - Robertsdale Old Post Office; and
  • Special Merit - John Eastman and Chris Wencker


The presentation event for the 2020 Awards was held at 5:30 p.m. on September 16, 2021.  Awardees included: 

  • Community Spirit - Huntingdon County History & Heritage Roundtable;
  • New Construction - Juniata Brewing Company;
  • Preservation - Restoration of the 1850 PRR Stone Arch Bridge; and
  • Special Merit – Cookies for Caregivers
