2020 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan

2020 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Huntingdon County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan previously adopted in March 2015 was updated and adopted in 2021.  The planning process for this Update was coordinated by Huntingdon County and consultant Michael Baker International. As of February 5, 2021, the Huntingdon County Hazard Mitigation Plan was  reviewed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and approvable pending adoption.  The Huntingdon County Commissioners adopted the PLan by resolution on February 16, 2021.  By October 29, 2021, all 48 municipalities had also adopted the Plan by resolution and all FEMA approvals were secured.

Prior to FEMA's formal approval, each municipality must adopt the Plan by resolution.  Adoption of these municipal resolutions ensures each municipality is eligible to apply for and receive certain federal grant funds administered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for FEMA.

Public Review Period

The public review period ended August 13, 2020.  The next step is submission of the Plan to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) for review.  Submission to PEMA is planned by the end of September.  Following Plan revisions resulting from PEMA's comments, the Plan will be sent to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for review.  Any revisions from FEMA's comments will be addressed.  It is anticipated that the Plan will be ready for municipal and county adoption by the end of the year.
