The Judge is nominated by the voters at a primary election and elected at a Municipal Election. The term of office is ten years. Judges may serve more than one term. The Judge's salary is paid by State government. The County Commissioners provide offices for the Judge, either in the courthouse or at another location agreeable to the Judge and the County Commissioners. The County also finances the cost of providing secretarial help, supplies, and janitorial services in the maintenance of the Judge's office for the use in the discharge of his duties.
